In the week of 14th to 19th January 2019, Douglas Opio, our Executive Director and Shaffi Manafa, our Head of Marketing went to China for a 5 day business visit. The visit was as a result of FUE’s relationship with the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprises (NHO) and China Enterprise Confederation (CEC).
The objective of this visit was to learn more about Chinese business practices. This took place in form of a conference, company visits, as well as a business breakfast meeting with the Chinese Employers.
We visited companies like Tencent Holdings, one of the biggest Chinese employers with over 30,000 employees, AirNet, an electronics manufacturing company, to mention but a few. During these visits, we learnt more about the best practices employed by Chinese employers, with an aim of passing on the same knowledge to Ugandan employers.
Besides that, this visit meant a lot to the Chinese employers operating in Uganda. As our ties with china are getting better and stronger, we believe it will make it easier to absorb the Chinese employers in Uganda to the FUE membership.
A comprehensive report on lessons learnt is being worked on and will be shared with our members sometime to come.
